How’s it going everybody? It’s Lucas Scheele with KC Pier and Kansas City Property Guys and today we’re actually out in Overland Park. Going to be looking at a little bit of a foundation project with an extreme wall pushback and lucky for us, we got Brian Dufour, the Director of Operations for KC Pier, here on site today and he’s going to give us the lowdown on this property. So let’s get right into this, guys.
Day 1 – Wall Pushback
Lucas Scheele:
How’s it going today, Brian?
Brian Dufour:
So far, so good.
Lucas Scheele:
Where are we at today?
Brian Dufour:
Today we were in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City. As you can tell, this house has massive movement in the wall. We’re doing a wall pushback on the front wall. It’s in about four and a half, five inches. The positive thing is they had a pump in but it was not plugged in so the water was pooling here and not adding any help to getting the water away from the house. So we are in the process of excavating and getting it ready for the wall pushback.
Brian Dufour:
So now we moved to the outside and what you can see is we started the Kansas City excavation process, 95% of what we discuss is too much water causing the wall to move in. This one’s a little different. There’s a massive 36 inch round tree, 15 feet away from the house, and this is the main culprit this time. So we’re digging this trench a little bit wider so that way we can put a root barrier on it and prevent the roots from pushing the wall in after we pull it out.
Day 2 – Pump Set up
Lucas Scheele:
How’s it going today, Brian?
Brian Dufour:
So far so good.
Lucas Scheele:
Where are we at today?
Brian Dufour:
Today, we’re still in Overland Park. It’s day two of the project. What you see here is the beams are in and secured. You can see how far we got the wall out. We got it out pretty good. We got it almost plumb. We started doing a little damage so we stopped where we were. The wall is about a half-inch. We got all this set. Over here, we’re putting in the pump, we’re getting the pump set up, and we’ll do some touch-ups on the cracks and we’ll be done.
Brian Dufour:
And now we’re outside. What we’re doing now is we backfill. We put in a brand new window well, we put in fiberglass ones versus metal. They last longer, they look better. We put 20 ton of gravel in here and all we’re doing now is we’re grading and cleaning up and we should be done in about an hour and a half and everything will look just as good as when we got here.
